Biography

Caroline Charlotte Alcock was born about 1834 and was christened on the 3rd of August, 1834 in Henfield, Sussex, England. She was the daughter of Jonathan Alcock and Amy (Saxby) Alcock. [1][2]

Caroline married Antoine Simeon Archambault on the 23rd of April, 1852 in Victoria, Canada West, British Colonial America.[3]

Children;

  • Joseph John Archambault b. 20 Sept 1853 m. Emma Bouchey
  • Sophia Archambault b. 22 Sept 1854
  • William Archambault b. May 1857 m. Donna Loomis 2nd) Martha J. Mimca
  • Mary Ann (Fannie, Frances ) Archambault b. 6 Feb 1859 m. Orson Schoonover
  • George Antoine Archambault b. 24 Jan 1860
  • Robert Stephen Saxby Archambault b. 24 Apr 1863 m. Isabell Belle Baker
  • Caroline Archambault b. 1863 d. 1902

In 1868 Caroline and Antoine immigrate to the United States and settle in Thetford, Genesee County, Michigan. About 1872 they move to Isabella County. Caroline's husband Antoine dies about 1889.

After his death Caroline married Casimer Beyargeon on the 14th of February, 1898 in Franklin, Clare, Michigan, United States.[4][5]

Caroline died on the 7th of July, 1913 in Vernon Township Isabella, Michigan, United States. She was buried beside her first husband, Antoine, in the Vernon Memorial Cemetery in Vernon Township, Isabella County, Michigan. The headstone did deteriorate enough that it was replaced at some point. The dates for Caroline were not correct on the replacement stone, however speculation by relatives is that the dates represent the years she lived on the property.[6][7][8]

Research Notes

1870 US Census found showing the Archambault family. Ages of children on the census are age last birthday. We have Robert S. (7), George A.(9) Mary (11) William H. (18). There are two known girls, Fannie (Mary) b. abt. 1858 and Sophia b. abt 1854. Where is Sophie? Sophie may have married.

Antoine and Caroline's headstone in the Vernon Township Cemetery, Isabella County, Michigan is a replacement headstone. The original headstone deteriorated. I do not believe that Caroline's information on the headstone is correct. The cemetery is on the property of the parents of her daughter-in-law, Isabel Baker Archambault and perhaps represent the years that Caroline lived on the Baker homestead. Caroline remarried and moved off from the Baker property after her Antoine Archambault died.

The comment about the headstone for Antoine and Caroline is very interesting, I made all sorts of guesses about why the dates were wrong. But could it be that "Caroline" was Isabel's child, perhaps died as an infant? Makes no sense to inscribe a living person's name on a headstone without noting that?

Thank you so much for all of your help and for all of your work on the family tree! My father, Merle Archambault, grew up the same property as his Grandparents, Robert & Isabel Archambault & knew them well. We used to visit the Vernon Township cemetery & he would tell me that the Caroline on the headstone is his Great Grandmother & wife of Antoine. The dates on the headstone are not correct. Nobody in my family knew who replaced the headstone. I have always appreciated whomever did replace it because otherwise I would not know where my ggGrandparents were buried, but I do know that the Caroline on the headstone represents Antoine's wife, Caroline. Thank you, again, for all of your work! I appreciate it so much! Cynthia

Jonathan Alcock would be my 3x Great Grandfather through his son Joseph. My great grandmother, Caroline Charlotte Ann Matilda Alcock (Alcock-210) is your ggGrandmothers namesake. So fun when I get to connect with other family members!

Im so glad you have solved this puzzle of where Caroline is buried. When you do the merge for Caroline your notes will come along with it and I will adjust my existing notes to fit. And you are most welcome! Thank you for embracing the Wiki way of doing things, looking forward to working with you! You can ask me questions anytime, glad to help!

Alcock-1368 and Allcock-266 appear to represent the same person because: Hi Cynthia, this is a duplicate of Allcock-266, please approve merge. The name difference is common, they tended to use Alcock and Allcock. It will be noted in the profile.
