Biography

William Allcock (1825-1867) was born in the Castle area of Northwich, Cheshire on the 15th November 1825. He was the son of a flatman, William Allcock & his wife Susannah. He was christened on the 20th December 1825 at the Independent Chapel in Northwich. ^[1] He seems to have been re-christened in the church of England on the 1st April 1827 in Northwich. ^[2]

In 1841 he was working as a waterman and recorded behind Castle Row, Northwich. ^[3] and in 1851 he was found at London Road, Leftwich, Cheshire with his mother who had remarried and been widowed again. ^[4]

William married in Liverpool, Lancashire on the 8th August 1858 at St Nicholas church to Ann Forrest. He was shown as a widower and still working as a flatman and gave a Liverpool address ^{[5] [6]} but took his bride back to Cheshire to live and in 1861 they were living in Temperance Terrace, Northwich with a young son James. ^[7]

Within a few years they had moved to Leftwich nearby and added a daughter Edith in 1866.

William died in Leftwich in 1867 ^[8] and was buried in Witton on the 29th January 1867. ^[9]
