Esther Victoria Alldis (married name Smith) was born on 15 July 1887 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, daughter of Dora May (Treglown) Alldis and Walter Charles Alldis.^[1] Walter had arrived in Melbourne 1866 on "Netherby", He is mentioned in several books on Victorian Melbourne; he was a butcher who had 6 shops in Melbourne
