George Allely was born on August 12, 1839 in Clones, County Monaghan, Ireland. His parents were Joseph Allely and Elizabeth Shannon. According to the 1900 Census, he immigrated in 1848. He married Margaret Armstrong on October 22, 1868. Together they had eight children:
