Joseph Ethan Allen was born on November 25, 1765 in Salisbury, Connectibut and was the first born son of Ethan Allen, a leader in the American Revolutionary War who fought for Vermont's independence from the Province of New York, and his first wife Mary Brownson. Joseph died of smallpox in June of 1777 at the young age of 11.[1]
