Benjamin is the son of Joseph and Sarah May ALLEN. His mother, passed away between the birth of her youngest child about September of 1735 and the remarriage of her husband November of 1736. Benjamin's grandfather, Elisha May wrote his will March of 1743. That will mentions that all of Sarah's children where under 21 one of which, Sarah, was under 18. If that were so then Benjamin and all his siblings, except for Sarah, births should be between 1722 and 1725. It is not likely that 5 children were born in four years. However, four of the five children, along with their father, were all baptized on the same day, 23 Feb 1734-5 at First Congregational church of Barrington. The oldest, Elizabeth was born and baptized in Swansea on May 27, 1722. The other children ,who were baptized with their father, were born between 1724 and 1730. Those baptized were:[1]
Joseph, Jr., Adult (His father was Joseph, Sr.
Joseph, of Joseph.
Elisha, of Joseph.
Benjamin, of Joseph.
Hezekiah, of Joseph.
Benjamin is listed as the father of Deborah (10 Mar 1753 - ) and Waitstill (26 Sep 1754 - ). Their mother was Waitstill.[2]
1728 in Barrington, Bristol, Rhode Island. Estimated yr of birth based on record. [1]
