Allen was born about on February 11, 1832 in Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick. She was the daughter of  Matthew Allen and Mary Ann "Polly" Dobson. Miranda married her 1st cousin, once removed, Isaac Allen, on December 31, 1850. They had 7 children.
Miranda died on April 2, 1871 of dropsy.
She was buried in the Allen Farm Cemetery in Botsford Parish.  The monument was later moved to the Upper Cape United Cemetery.
