Family members recalled Flo being born around 1935.Government records, however, fix the date of her birth as 10 October 1923. Although Flo lived in Newark from at least 1930 to 1940, her death was recorded as taking place in Old Bridge, New Jersey which had been the Britton hometown since at least 9 June 1900 when Flo's widower great-grandfather, Josephus Britton was enumerated on the U.S. Federal Census as living as the head of household with his sons Howard, Hugh and Oliver and an elderly woman named Sarah.Course, presumed to be the matron housekeeper.
