Biography
John was born in 1838. He was the son of Thomas Allen and Ann Tapp. He passed away in 1911.
Arrived in New Plymouth on 19 March 1844, aged 6 years, on the 'Theresa' (600 tons - Capt Bacon). Was a paying passenger. No passenger lists. Just listed as Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allen and family.
Was aged 13 when his mother died and 15 when his father re-married.
Participated in the Land Wars. Moved from New Plymouth to Thames around 1870 and then retired to Te Aroha around 1890 .
