George was born in 1836. He passed away in 1885.

• George Washington ALLEN, married *Isabel KNIFFEN b. Apr. 23, 1848, dau of

David *KNIFFEN and *Mariah YATELY, on June 18, 1865. soon after coming home from the Civil War. He died Jan. 20, 1885 on his sons birthday, from chest wounds he received during the Civil War. *Isabel died Dec. 28, 1894. All are buried in the Sugar Camp Cemetery, in Moores Prairie Twsp. in Jefferson Co. Il.

*George and *Isabel had 5 children; Howard ALLEN b. 1866, married first to Syrena HOPKINS, May 1888, second to Janie MENDENALL, Aug. 29, 1897; Bertie b. 1867 married first to Benjamin AUXIER, June 6, 1886, second to William Henry WILKEY; *Robert Louis ALLEN b. Jan. 20, 1870 married *Elizabeth "Lizzie" Gertrude LEARNED, Oct 18, 1891, dau. of Jones LEARNED and *Harriet Content THIERRY, died Aug. 15, 1966.
