Gertrude was born circa 1865, the daughter of John M. Allen, Jr and Joanna Maria Bayer of Gaspereau, Nova Scotia[1][2][3][4]
On Thursday, July 10, 1897, Gertrude married Edward John Stevens, the son of Edward Stevens, Esq and Sarah Ann Kane, of Harvey, Albert, NB[5], and their children included[6]:
Vernon Peavy, born May 31, 1884 in Massachusetts[7], who married Elizabeth Yale[8], and fought in WWI[9]
Gordon Allen, born August 25, 1890 in Massachusetts, who married Ruth Anderson[10], fought in WWII[11], and who died in 1969[12]
John Miner, born September 1901[13], who died in 1986[14]
