Research Note

The profile for WIlliam Allen (Allen-22084) is set up for the William Allen born circa 1820 in Arkansas. He was the right age for the marriage record to Sarah Speers and the 43 year old Civil War soldier listed on this profile. But the large discrepancy with the birth year of Eleazer Allen's son William (in Eleazer's 1850 Census William was said to be b 1832) does raise questions as to whether Allen-22084 is Eleazer's son.

The 1850 census record for Eleazer (Eli?) Allen says his son William was born in 1832.....but since Eleazer's children aren't listed according to age, this seems odd..... if Eil's son was born circa 1832, this census record for William Allen is of interest; "United States Census, 1860", database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M8W3-LHP : 13 December 2017), Wm Allen, 1860. Born 1833, Resides in Washington Township, Conway, Arkansas. He's living with Meletha A (Malethia?) Allen. They would be cousins if William is the son of Eleazer.

In this 1860 Census, the 48 year old widow Delila Allen living next door is the mother of Meletha A. (Malethia?) Allen..... This is Delila's earlier census:"United States Census, 1850," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M67D-XJV : 12 April 2016), Squire Allen in household of Jesse B Allen, Perry county, Perry, Arkansas, United States; citing family 21, NARA microfilm publication M432 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.).
