I believe this Mary Allen (wife of Porter Day) is not the daughter of Johnson Allen and Mary (Varney). I believe she has been confused with their daughter Margaret [born on that date, and I believe this is the only source for the birthdate shown for Mary, who may have been slightly older], possibly because some index records for Margaret say "Marg" and that could be confused with Mary. Johnson and Mary (Varney) have a daughter Mary, born in 1841, and it is unlikely they would have named her the same as an older sister. The notes for Johnson & Mary (Varney) Allen also show 7 children, which do not include this Mary. I have been unable to find parents for this Mary, wife of Porter Day.

Note that the bio says "born in Hallowell" - that was Margaret's birthplace. Some other records for Mary indicate South Berwick (which is shown in her birth location) or other location, not Hallowell.
