Lydia (Allen) Blair was a Latter Day Saint pioneer.
Lydia was born in Salem County, New Jersey on 8 April 1829, daughter of James Allen and Sarah Hardy. [1] In the 1850 census, Lydia, 22, no occupation listed, is living in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, with her parents, farmers, and seven younger siblings. [2] Two years later, she is listed in the Utah Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel Database, immigrating with the Isaac M. Stewart Company. Lydia departed on 19 June and arrived in the "State of Deseret" on 22 September 1852. [3]
On 29 Aug 1858 in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, Lydia was married to Tarlton Blair. A year later, he married her sister, Eliza. [citation needed] In 1860 the Blair family was living in Ogden City, Weber County, Utah Territory: Tolton, Lydia, Tolton M, and Pracilla. Eliza is not listed in this census. [4] She is, however, in the next census. 1870, St. George, Washington County, Utah Territory: Tarlton Blair, his two wives, Lyda and Eliza, and six children - Mitchel, Presela, Sarah, John, Francis, and David. [5] She seems to be again not present for the 1880 census, as the Price City, Washington County household consists of simply Tarlton, Lydia, Michale, Francis, and Charlotta Blair, as well as married daughter Priscilla Hendrix. [6] The 1900 census in Pine Valley, Washington County has only Tarlton and Lydia A. Blair. [7]
Lydia Allen Blair passed away on 6 December 1906 at the age of 77 in St. George, Washington County. [8] She was a widow of two years. Her sister Eliza lived another 16 years.
