Birth: Frances was born about 1849 in Mississippi. She is the daughter of Lewis Allen and Maria Louisa (Fuller) Allen who were born in South Carolina.^[1]

Frances' mother cannot read or write.

1860 Census, Norther Division, Tippah County, Mississippi:^[2] Francis' father continues to farm and own real estate.
