Biography

Mary was born in Mar. 20, 1777[1] in Virginia. Her mother was Ann Allen.
Not sure who her father was. Charles is a guess.
[Hers and Abraham's birthdates are from an old Thomas family Bible. Their daughter, Nancy, married a Thomas.]

I don't know where the Allen family came from. Abraham and Mary were married in Bedford Co, Va. (Abraham had been born there in 1773.) But there were Allens back in Bucks Co, PA where the Huddlestons came from before then. One of them, Dr. Thomas Allen, bought Abraham's grandfather's place in Langhorne, PA. Dr. Allen was a descendant of Nathaniel Allen, William Penn's agent (though it's not likely he was related to Polly.)

Polly married Abraham Huddleston, Mar 2, 1793 in Bedford County, VA. The marriage license requested by Ann Allen (Mary's mother, because Polly was probably only 16), surety was Daniel Huddleston (Abraham's brother).
Bedford Co. marriages:
"Mar. 2, 1793; Abraham Huddleston & Mary Allen; Daniel Huddleston, Surety; Request from Ann Allen; Married by Nathaniel Shrewsbury, March 5, 1793."

Polly and Abe moved to Smith County, TN about 1794 (though several in his family had moved to Kanawah Co, WV). Probably his brother, Henry and his sister, Polly also went to Smith Co, TN with them.

About 1818/19 they moved to Pope Co, Ill where they were in the 1820 census. His brother Henry and a Peyton Huddleston were still in Smith Co, TN in 1820

1820 IL Census, Pope Co, Alexander twp, p 74:

3 boys 0-10 [Marshall-9, Jesse-6, Benjamin-3]
[Should also have 1 girl, Martha-5; Nancy, Charles, & Joseph were married]

Oct. 6, 1821 Abraham and all his children (except John who came later) left Illinois and settled in what is now Thomasville, Oregon Co., Mo. They were some of the first white families to settle in that county (others early ones were Smith, Thomas & Perkins). The Huddlestons settled on the Eleven Points River, about 3 miles below Thomasville. The area around Thomasville was a wilderness then and settlers were very sparse. At the time the area was included in Wayne Co, later Riley Co, and in 1845 it became Oregon County.

1830 Wayne Co, MO census (p 46):
Abraham Huddleston 50-60
woman 50-60 [Mary]
man 20-30 [William, 23]
3 boys 15-20 [Abe Jr 21, Marshall 19, Jesse 16]

1 male - 20-30 [Jesse-26]
1 male 0-5 [Jesse's son Henry-3]
1 female 0-5 [Jesse's daug Martha-2]

1850 Oregon Co, Mo census (p400)
Abraham Huddleston Sr. - 77, b Penn
Mary - 70, b Va.
Henry - 13, b Mo
Martha - 12, b Mo [Henry and Martha were grandchildren, children of Jesse. Their mother had died and Jesse remarried in 1842.]

Abraham and Polly had 12 children, 10 of them boys! Many of their descendants still live around Oregon County. Lots of Huddlestons! Abe died in 1858, by then on 4 of his children were still alive (and one of them died 3 days after him).
It isn't known when Polly died, but was between 1850 and 1860.

They probably are buried[2] in the old Thomas-Lasley Cemetery near Thomasville (but not sure).[3]

All born in Smith Co, TN and died in Oregon Co, MO
