Service from The Story of a Thousand

He enlisted in Company F of the 105th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 5, 1862 at age 30 as Corporal. During the course of his service he was promoted to Sergeant, then to 2d Lieutenant of Co. E in which capacity he served until January 29, 1863. He served as 2d Lieutenant of Co. F from April 19, 1863 to February 18, 1864, then he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant of Co. F on February 18, 1864 and served in that rank until mustered out at the end of the war. He was wounded twice at the Battle of Perryville. ^[1]
