Biography

Edna was born in 1907. She passed away in 1995. The family moved from Garden City, Kansas to Derby, Kansas so Edna could work in the Beech aircraft plant in Wichita, Kansas during WWII. Becoming a senior sheet metal assemblyman in 1942. Then she worked for the post office in Derby as a clerk, working her way to assistant postmaster before she retired in 1969. She was a charter member of Rebecca Lodge in Derby Kansas. She traveled extensively in her senior years going to Egypt, Israel and across Canada on a train to name just a few adventures. She spent her last years in an Osage City, Kansas nursing home because her surviving child, Shirley moved to that part of the state and wanted to be nearby. She was buried on the family plot, purchased when her son Eldon died at the El Paso Cemetery in Derby, Kansas.

17 Dec 1908 A postcard from her father: "Miss Edna L Allen Dear Daughter This letter is from your Papa. Take care of it and if you live, some day you can read it. Save a lot of kisses for me. With much love I am your Father J M Allen"

She did live and read it and saved it so now I may also read it and see my great-grandfathers handwriting.
