Hi Lynne,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

I have entered several generations back in my Hicks tree. Jeremiah's estate was probated and his wife and children were named. I am confident about him and have DNA matches.

Next I have entered his father William and this is based on Jeremiah's Marriage Bond. However, this is the only document I have that connects them. I am going to enter the next 2 generations back and hope there is someone who connects to me out there with more information.  :) Lynne

Hi B L!

A warm welcome to WikiTree. It is my privilege to confirm you as a full member. Now you can add your family to our Shared Tree!

Important: Check out our New Member How-To pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.

I hope you find your WikiTree experience as fruitful and enjoyable as I have. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!

Thank you for the message and I will do my best to guide you. It sounds like the right path for you is to go ahead and create Tags and "Volunteer" so that a Greeter can confirm you as a full member of WikiTree.

Once confirmed, you can begin to add your family members - first your parents and then their parents and work your way back with what you have already found in your research. At some point you will find a duplicate of one of your ancestors and be able to connect your tree to what is already here. I know there are Hicks here as I am also a descendant of a Hicks line.

If you have questions about how to Volunteer, please let me know by clicking on my name above this message.

Hello, I have just joined as a Guest Member in hopes of confirming my lineage back to Robert Hicks (1587 - 1647) immigrant on the Fortune in 1621. I have Ancestry DNA matches to Samuel Hicks (1685 - 1772) and Diana Willis (abt 1699 - abt 1786). And their son Samuel and wife Frances Wyatt. And I have proofs and matches back 5 generations from myself. So I am working on that gap. I am hoping to find others who are of the same line or can point me in the right direction, and can help clear up some of the confusion in this family. I have done a lot of work but am now stuck. Thanks for letting me join your group. Lynne
