Biography

Samuel was born 1851 in Langtree, Devon, England. He was the son of John Allen and Elizabeth Nethaway.[1]

In the 1861 Census, he's with his parents John and Elizabeth and brother William in Laneast, Cornwall.[2]

His 1st marriage was to Sarah Geake Jenkin November 16, 1871 in Laneast, Cornwall.[3]

Widowed in 1878, by the 1880 Census, he was with his brother William Nethaway Allen in Honey Grove, Fannin county, Texas and both are listed as "wagon makers".[4]

Philippa Hobbs listed as "Philippa Allen, wife" on the ship's passenger list brought Samuel's sons John age 8 and Henry age 4 across the Atlantic arriving May 5, 1881 along with a little 3 year old girl named "Kate" [nothing is known about her].

He married Philippa Hobbs May 11, 1881 in Honey Grove, Fannin, Texas.[5]

In 1910, Samuel, Philippa and their children Sam, Lucy and Gracie were in Dow, Pittsburg county, Oklahoma.[6]

In 1920, Sam is a widower and has children Sam Jr and Lucy living with him in Dow, Pittsburg county.[7]

In 1930, Sam is a widower and still has adult children Sam Jr and Lucy with him in Dow, Pittsburg county.[8]

I CANNOT find Sam / Samuel Allen, wife Philippa or any of their children in the 1900 Census.
