He has lived in Crawford until about 16 years of age when he moved to Indiana where has lived the remainder of life with his daughter, Mrs. Nancy Racey.

He was married to Miss Pearlisia Elizabeth Shoulders. Whom departed this life about 34 years ago. To this union were born 4 children, James L. Allen and Mrs. Nancy Jane Racey and Mrs. Ida May Drummond, all of whom survive but Elizabeth Landrith whom departed this life about 2 years ago. Mr. Allen has but one sister, living Mrs. Angeline Simons of Crawford County, Illinois.
