Biography

1776 Project
Peter Aller Jr performed Patriotic Service in New Jersey in the American Revolution.

Peter Aller Jr was born about 1738, most likely in New Jersey, as his parents separately immigrated from Germany to New Jersey before their marriage. He is thought to be the son of Peter Aller Sr and Elizabeth Case, specifically because in the 1778 will of Peter Aller Senior, he notes a bequest of the farm of Johann Philip Kaes a.k.a. "Philip Kase" to his son Peter Aller Junior:[1]

According to the will of Peter Aller Sr of Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Peter Aller Jr was the "eldest son," with two younger brothers, John and Philip.[2] He and his brother John each inherited farms in Amwell Township per the terms of their father's 1778 will:

Peter Aller Jr was married to Elizabeth circa 1760, before the Revolutionary War.

In February of 1780, Peter Aller Jr paid a Revolutionary War supply tax at Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey that qualifies him for Daughter of the American Revolution service.[3] Note that his brother John Aller also paid the tax and appears on the same page:

In June of 1780, Peter Aller Jr paid another Ratables Tax at Amwell Township, Hunterdon County on the 68 acres of land that he owned in Amwell Township.[4] This also qualifies for service for the DAR. His brother John Aller appears on the same list for 150 acres:

Peter Aller Jr and Elizabeth were parents of the following known children:

Ann Aller, the wife of Herbert Cool, who purchased land in Hampshire County, Virginia in 1793.[5]
Elizabeth Aller, the wife of Jacob Cool, who was one of the Executors of the will of Peter Aller's widow, Elizabeth MNU Aller Sebring.
Peter Aller, who also lived in Hampshire County and whose wife was named "Mary."[6]
Catharine Aller, the wife of Samuel Stephenson, who purchased land next door to the widow Elizabeth Aller in Hampshire County in 1794.[7] This land was purchased on the same day that Elizabeth Aller made her land entry. Both parcels of land were previously owned by the same person, indicating that they entered Hampshire County together.

Peter Aller of Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey's estate was probated in 1792. He died intestate.

Death of Peter Aller, widow Elizabeth

Widow Elizabeth Aller made a final account of the estate at Hunterdon County, New Jersey in August of 1793.[8]

Elizabeth Aller, his widow, moved to Hampshire County in Western Virginia with their grown children in 1794. There, she was remarried to John Sebring.

The above-named children of the couple were named in the will of Elizabeth MNU Aller Sebring, who died in 1814.[9] Her will was probated at Hampshire County, Virginia:

Research Note

There were four men named Peter Aller who lived in Hunterdon County, New Jersey during the American Revolutionary War. This man is very often confused with Peter Aller who was born in Amwell Township in 1756, but moved to Lebanon Township in 1765. The other Peter Aller was also the son of a man named Peter Aller, and served in the New Jersey volunteer militia as a Lieutenant before his marriage.
