Abigail was born in 1749. She passed away about 1801 in St. George, Knox, Maine, United States.
Portsmouth, NH. Event: John and Martha moved from New Hampshire to Townsend, present-day Boothbay in 1756. John was the “first owner of the first mill of the first mill privilege” at Wildcat Meadow, Boothbay. He and Martha are buried at what was once known as Alley’s Graveyard at Burleigh Hill in Boothbay. This area later belonged to a Mrs. Paul Conkling who refused to acknowledge the graveyard. It is now owned by a company who has poured a cement walkway over it without realizing it was a graveyard. John was deeded the land originally owned as a “freehold” by his grandparents Thomas and Sarah Alley of Rowley, Massachusetts from his father Samuel Alley of Dover, New Hampshire. It is not known what he did with this land. He came to Boothbay with Colonel David Dunbar. His farm was valued at $1200. For those times, he was considered a person of high income.
