Ephraim served in the Revolutionary War as a gunner. He was present at the Battle of Concord as a Minutemen from Lynn, and also a Private in the 4th Company of Col. Thomas Crafts' Artillery Regiment, for 2 and a half months, from May 20, 1776, through August 1 of the same year.

He married 23 Jul 1778 Mehitable Hallowell; she died 10 Dec 1782.
He married Hepzibah Lewis on July 17, 1783 [2] and they resided in Lynn throughout their lives. [3]
He died in 1821 [4] and is buried at the Western Burial Ground in Lynn. [5]
