Biography

John Allen (Alleyne), mercer of Grantham, Skillington and Stoke Rochford died within the lifetime of his father, Richard Allen of Grantham. His will was dated 7 Dec 1557 and proved on 19 Jan 1558. He is known to have had two children, John and Richard. At the time of his death his wife was Alice, and she was the executor of her husband's will. ^[1] A mercer was a dealer in fine fabrics.
