Charles Allin was born in 1894 to George Allin and Ellen Barry at Cogan, Glamorgan, Wales. [1]

In 1901, Charles was living at 32, Harriet Street, Cogan Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales. He is living with his parents George and Ellen Allin and 4 siblings. [2]

Charles had been in the Regular Army when war broke out and was in China when war broke out. [4]

He entered World War 1 on 23 September 1914 with 2nd Battalion South Wales Boarders. This battalion joined the Japnese invasion of the German Naval base at Tsingtao aswell as landing at Gallipoli in 1915. [5]

Charles was wounded twice in Gallipoli and was awarded the military medal. [4]

In 1916, Charles was moved to France and Flanders.

On 11 April 1918, at Les Haies Basses the enemy had attacked at dawn after a trench mortar barrage. Charles was most likely trying to defend this area when he died. He is commemorated at Ploegstreet Memorial, Belgium, Panel 5.[6] [7]

He was also awarded the Victory Medal, British Medal and 1914-1915 Medal. [8]
