William died on May 7, 1880 in Inverell, New South Wales aged ~45.[2]
News report of death - Inverell Times, May 11, 1880
On Sunday week Mr. W Allingham was found lying insensible on the Gilgai road. It is surmised he was thrown from his horse, as the animal was found grazing quietly near. He was discovered by Mrs. South, about 2 o'clock in the afternoon, who immediately procured assistance and the sufferer was conveyed to the residence of Mr. Nelson. Upon the arrival of Allingham's wife he was taken to his own home (situated a few miles on the Tingha road) in a cart. The poor fellow lingered up to Sunday last in a semi-state of insensibility, when he died, regretted by every person who knew him.[3]
buried in St Peters CofE cemetery, Armidale
