In the 1850 census Frances (erroneously entered as age 27), farmer, was in Henderson County, North Carolina, United States.[1] In the 1860 census Francis (age 82), Gardner, was in Henderson, North Carolina.[2]

Francis died on 6 February 1867. He was buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Hendersonville, Henderson County, North Carolina, United States.[3] Francis's estate has probate in 1867 in Transylvania County, North Carolina.[4]
