Samuel Allison was a signer of the 1783 Quaker anti-slavery petition sent to the US Congress by the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.
Samuel Allison was the son of Quakers Joseph Allinson and Elizabeth Scattergood. Samuel Allinson was an attorney and the Surveyor-General of N.J. In 1765, he married Elizabeth Smith, and the couple had two children. Samuel Allinson married his second wife, Martha Cooper, in 1773, and the couple had five children. In 1776, Allinson wrote the Acts of General Assembly of the Province of New Jersey.
