Johnson was born on 13 March 1805 in Kentucky. He was the son of James Ellison and Sydney McClanahan.
Johnson married Jane Mooneyham on 29 September 1830 in Limestone, Alabama. The couple had 13 children: William R Allison, Francis Marion Allison, Corp James L Allison, Mary Jane Allison, Martha E Allison, Catherine Allison, Harvey Cornelius Allison, George Washington Allison, Ann Elizabeth Allison, Patrick Allison, Parton Birchett Allison, Ellen E Allison. and Frances C Allison.[1][2]
In 1850 Johnson was living in Franklin, Alabama.[3]
In 1860 Johnson was living in North, Lawrence, Arkansas. Residence Post Office: Martins Creek.[4]
In 1870 Johnson was living in Roanoke, Randolph, Arkansas. Residence Post Office: Pocahontas.[5]
In 1880 Johnson was living in Janes Creek, Randolph, Arkansas. Marital Status: Married. Relation to Head: Self.[6]
Johnson died at the age of about 75 in 1881 in Ravenden Springs, Randolph, Arkansas. He was buried after 1881 in Ravenden Springs, Randolph County, Arkansas.[7]
