Residence: Date: 1880 Place: Shoal Creek, Barry, Missouri, USA[6]
James was listed in his father's will. James lived near Harlem Springs, Lee Township, Carroll County, Ohio. Children were born in Ohio. In his later years, he and second wife and younger children moved to Barry County Missouri as did several of his grown children. Per census records, James Allman lived in Barry County, very near other Allman family members, including Jonathan, Joseph, Ephraim, Robert, and John Thomas Allman. The 1880 census showed James born in Maryland with his father born in Maryland and his mother born in Virginia. His wife in 1880 was Sarah who was 30 years younger, a second marriage. James and Sarah were buried in Rocky Comfort Cemetery, but not listed on find-a-grave or Barry County genweb site. The 1913 death certificate of Robert Allman in Newton County has parents names James Allman b. Pennsylvania and Loyola Rumble/Rumple b. unknown. Robert James Allman was buried in Rocky Comfort. HOWEVER, Robert birthdate is different that was on census. DC has Oct 20, 1852 in Ohio.
Our big breakthrough on these Missouri Allmans was made by Patrick Jones from Ohio. He is a descendant of William, son of William and Polly (Peterson) Allmon. This is how he found the Barnes research. "First I went to the Ohio Genealogical Society website and did a search through their lineage society databases (http://www.ogs.org/about/lineage.php). I got a hit with the spelling of Allman as "Allmon" under First Families of Ohio for Jefferson County. Then I went to the Jefferson County, Ohio Genealogical Society page (http://www.jeffcochapter.com/) & poked around, eventually finding the First Families Member List (http://www.jeffcochapter.com/FirstFamiliesMemberList.pdf). Page 6 shows that Jennie Jean Barnes submitted an entry for William Allmon. Then I ran a Google search for "Jennie Jean Barnes Jefferson County Ohio" and the first hit was the FamilySearch Library entry for her research. A bit of luck, but it worked. THANK YOU PATRICK!

DNA Connections
