Biography

Alfred Allred was born about 1818 in Randolph Co., NC.[1] Alfred is the son of Stephen Allred Sr. and Jane York. Alfred died the 22 Feb 1855 in Fair Play, Panola, Texas.[1]

About 1839 Alfred left Randolph Co., NC with his parents and siblings for Texas. On the way their wagons broke down in Tennessee. Stephen Allred, Alfred's father, rented land so they could make a crop and fix their wagons. It was here in Tennessee that Alfred met his wife to be, Margaret A. Wheatley. There isn't a marriage record for Alfred and Margaret but, according to family they were married about 1840. And, in 1841 they left Tennessee for Texas.

  3. Thomas Jefferson Allred died young
  4. Sarah Elizabeth Allred m. Matthew Roger Barton
  5. William Carroll Allred m. Mary Seleta Flanagan
  6. Margaret Frances Allred m. David M. Flanagan
  7. Jerretta Ann Allred m. Jesse Watson Brooks



Estate of Alfred Allred

Alfred did not leave a last will and testament but, his father petitioned the Court to grant him letters of administration for the Estate of Alfred Allred:

County of Panola
In open court March Term AD 1855 the Honorable Thomas G Allison Judge of Probate in and for said county of Panola. Your petitioner Stephen Allred a citizen of the state and county aforesaid respectfully presents unto your honor that on or about the 22nd day of February AD 1855 Alfred Allred died intestate having at the time of his death in said county & state various goods, chattle rights and credits to the amount of ______ dollars which ___ yet __________ upon & liable to _____ ____ Petitioner further presents to your honor that the said Deceased was the son of your petitioner, therefore he prays your honor to grant him letters of administration upon the Estate of said Alfred Allred Decd at the next regular term of the County Court, pertaining to Estate of Deceased persons, and as in Duty bound will ___ pray.

Personally appeared before me the undersigned authority Margaret Allred and after being duly sworn Deposeth and Sayeth that her husband - Alfred Allred died on or about the 22nd of Feb last having no will as the affiant knows and having various goods and chattles & lands in the County of Panola and state aforesaid and it is necessary that some person should administrator on the Estate and I having by law the preference, I hereby relinquish that preference to Stephen Allred the Father of the deceased and it is my wish and desire that he be appointed Adm. of said Estate. I hereby renounce my preference in his favor March 1855
