Biography

Charles was born in 1833. He was the son of Thomas Allsop and Anna (Matthews) Allsop.

At the time of the 1841 census Chares is living with his parents and sister in Regent Street, Marylebone, London.[1]

He married Catherine Bunker at Holy Trinity Church, Lyttelton, New Zealand on 10 January 1862.[2]

They had children:

  1. Susannah Frances (1863-1864)
  2. Laura Gertrude (1864-1865)
  3. Ada Isabel (1865-1865)
  4. Leonard Coleridge (1865-1866)
  5. Charles Reginald (1867-1868)
  6. Robert (1868-1925)
  7. Maude (1869)
  8. Frank Cuthbert (1872-1930)
  9. Beatrice (1874-1883)
  10. Charles Lamb (1883-1940)

Charles was for a time a rate collector for the Christchurch City Council.[3] He was later a school master in Kaiapoi.

Charles was adjudged bankrupt in June 1868.[4]

They left New Zealand for England 1869/70.

In 1871 the family are living in Bromley Street, Stepney, London.[5]

They were living in Australia by the time son Frank was born in 1872.

He passed away in 1886.[6][7]
