Biography
Edgar D. "Ed" Allsop, 64 of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, 5 OCT 2002, at his home. He was born 10 SEP 1938, in Holliday, Illinois, the son of Roy Ralph and Nolis (Caudill) Allsop. He married Frances Gibbens in 1957 in Corinth, MS. He owned and operated Sprinfield Battery Co. Surviving are his wife; daughters Cindy (husband Michael) Atterberry of Buffalo and Penny (husband Lou) Neuf, and Julie (husband Scott) Brooks, both of Rochester; eight grandchildren; mother, Nolis Allsop of Decatur; sister, Lenora (husband Don) Hall of Decatur; brothers, Ernie Allsop of Monroe, WA, Roy (wife Jean) Allsop of Tacoma, WA and Phil Allsop of Effingham; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a son Arthur Dean Allsop. Services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, Oct 9, in Rochester Christian Church, with David Upchurch officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, in the church. Wilson-Park Funeral Home in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.
