Biography

Israel was a Friend (Quaker)

Israel was born before 1750. He was the son of Israel and Sarah Allston of Little Creek, Kent County.

He lived in Kent County, Delaware and was a member of the Duck Creek Monthly Meeting. In 1775, Israel signed manumissions for two provisionally enslaved people, setting them free as soon as they were of legal age. He also committed to paying reparations to each of them.

John, purchased until he turns 25 from Thomas Nock Junior (& then by his Father’s Will he was to be free). Manumitted when he reaches lawful age 21
Lydia Beckett, being free born (African American) but bound to me by the Overseer of the Poor before two magistrates till she should arrive to twenty one years of age. Manumitted when she reaches lawful age 18.
£50 penalty payment to each of them.

He passed away after 1775.
