Biography

Adam was born in 1787. He married Elizabeth Kitson. His second wife was Elizabet Swartz. [1]

During the War of 1812, Adam Almas served as a private in the 5th Lincoln Militia. He served from September 25 to November 24, 1812 in Capt. James Durand’s Flank Company and was present at the Battle of Queenston Heights on October 13th. [2]

Adam Alms served from May 25 to May 31, 1813 in Capt. Isreal Dawdy’s Company. [3]

He served from July 23 to 25, 1813 in the same company. [4]

Adam Almos served from July 29 to 31, 1813 in Capt. Daniel Young’s Company. [5]

Adam Almost was stationed at Burlington Heights from September 17 to October 12, 1813 in Capt. Charles Depew’s Company. [6]

He served from October 25 to November 6 and November 9 to 14, 1813 in Capt. Charles Depew’s Company. [7]

Adam Almas served from December 25, 1813 to January 1, 1814 in Capt. John Smith’s Company. [8]

Adam Almost served from June 20 to July 24, 1814 in a detachment under the command of Lieut. Col. Andrew Bradt. [9]

In 1816, his first son was born in Ancaster Twp. The 1816 and 1818 Glanford Twp. Assessments recorded his name.

On May 26, 1820, Adam Almas, a farmer of Glanford Twp. and a former private in the 2nd Flank Co. of the 5th Lincoln, received 100 acres on the west half of Lot 6, Con. 7, Zorra Twp. [10]
