Biography

Pleasant Almond was the first child born to Harris Almond and Ruth Lakey on January 3, 1836 . His mother died April 12, 1841.

Pleasant Almond was recorded as being eleven (actually fourteen, according to most accounts) at home with his father, Harris and step-mother Anna Almond, and two siblings in the 1850 federal census for Washington Township, Hendricks County, Indiana. [1]

Pleasant Almond married Minerva Jane Hadley on September 14, 1857. [2] [3]

Pleasant Almond and Minerva Jane Hadley had the following children: Theophilus Almond (1858), Roscoe Almond (1860), John Hadley Almond (1865) and Sarah Catherine "Katie" Almond (1871). [Oddly, The 1860 federal census [4] recorded "Mary" as his wife and "Bellemore" as his first child. The 1870 census and later records identify the mother of "Theophilus" as "Minerva" and use the name "Theophilus". Minerva Almond died in 1873.]

Pleasant Almond married Mary Hamlet Osborn, the widow of Madison Osborn on August 13, 1874. [5]
