Biography

Andrew was a private in Captain Pearce’s Company, RI Militia, in the War of 1812. He enlisted 10 Oct 1814, discharged 31 Oct 1814. Enlisted again 1 Jan 1815, discharged 23 Feb 1815. According to pension records, Andrew was a resident of Newport, RI, in 1850; his widow was in Fairhaven, MA, in 1855, and in Newport in 1874. The Andrew Almy family is in the 1850 Federal census for Portsmouth, RI, as follows. Andrew 63, Mary 55, Henry B. 16, and Anna A. 14. [1]
