Biography

Hugo Alpen was born in Kellinghusen in 1842. He came to Australia in 1858.

He was a composer, choral conductor, and teacher who directed musical education in New South Wales from 1884.

Hugo married Sarah Mary Josephine Brown at Albury in 1868.[1] They had 13 children together.

He died on the 20th of June, 1917,[2][3][4][5][6][7] and was buried in the Catholic section of the Rookwood cemetery.[8][9]
