Pleasance Alt was born in Kensington, London, England in 1879, the youngest of seven children of William ALT and Elizabeth (Earl) ALT.
She married firstly in 1905, Charles JOHNSTON, and they had four children, Anne, Michael, Christopher, and Brian. Her husband Charles tragically drowned on holiday at Bude, Cornwall, in 1922.
Pleasance married secondly in 1924, Lt. -Col. Vincent SCULLY, but their marriage was dissolved in 1938. Pleasance reverted to the name Johnston after her divorce.
She died in Eastbourne, Sussex, in 1957, aged 77.
