Agnes Alterator was born on 2 July 1878 at The Cuan near Scone. She was called Agatha throughout her life.
Agatha married Alfred James Burns on 18 January 1894 at Scone.
They were to have 4 children:
1. Stella Maude Burns born 1897 at Scone. Her first husband was Pakeha Roggers, (Pakeha is the Maori term for a white New Zealander, which he was), married in 1916 at Scone. They had one son, but the boy's father disappeared soon after. She married James Alexander (Jim) McLaren in 1937 at Merewether and they had at least 6 children together. Stella died in 1960 at Merewether.
2. Dorothy Burns was born in 1899 at Scone and married Percy William Bounds at Hamilton in 1927. They had at least one child, then separated. Dorothy died in 1980.
3. Thomas A Burns was born in 1900 at Scone and became a labourer and later an operator, living at Hamilton. It would appear he did not marry. He died in 1963 at Hamilton.
4. George Phillip Burns was born in 1903 at Scone and died 1949 in Victoria
Agnes Burns died of pneumonia on 15 March 1923 at Scone
