Biography

Irene was born in 1914. She was the daughter of George Altheide and Eva Kropp. She passed away in 2002.

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday August 13, 2002

Irene Lydia Altheide Hudson, 87, died August 10, 2002, in the Touched by a White Dove Assisted Living Home in Albuquerque. Her grandson, Curtis, and his wife, Carmen, lovingly cared for her until her death.

She was born September 27, 1914, in Tioga, Illinois, to George and Eva Kropp Altheide, who are deceased. Also deceased are her sisters, Lucille Butts and Evalyn Wollbrink; and brothers, Wilbur and Eldon Altheide.

Irene is survived by her two sons, James (Sandra) and Richard Hudson of Albuquerque; two grandsons, Brian (Karen) Hudson and Curtis (Carmen) Hudson of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, Kris (James) Reddin of Canton, North Carolina; two great-grandsons, Branden and Colby Reddin of Canton, North Carolina; one great-granddaughter, Sharae Saline of McIntosh, New Mexico; and one greatgreat-granddaughter, Madison Saline, also of McIntosh.

She is also survived by one half sister, Wilma Thornton of Ursa, Illinois; and three half brothers, Kenneth and Dale Altheide of Quincy, Illinois, and George Altheide, Jr. of Talbott, Tennessee.

Irene lived and worked in Quincy, Illinois until her retirement at the age of 65, when she moved to New Mexico to be with her sons and grandchildren. After her move to New Mexico, she stayed busy attending the Assembly of God Church, crocheting, hiking in the mountains with fellow seniors, tending her small garden, and having her family come to her home so she could cook dinner for them, one of her greatest delights.

A Memorial Service will be held at Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy, Illinois on Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Faith Assembly of God Church in Quincy, IL. Burial will be in the Bethany United Church of Christ Cemetery in Tioga, Illinois, where her parents and other family members are buried.
