Dale was born in 1925. He was the son of George Altheide and Bertha Wollbrink. He passed away in 2011.
Dale E. Altheide, 85, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, formerly of 1723 Chestnut in Quincy, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Dale was born on July 16, 1925, near Sutter in rural Hancock County, to the late George H. and Bertha Wollbrink Altheide. Dale served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Electric Wheel and later Firestone for 32 years. He was an avid trap shooter in his younger years and loved to fish. Surviving are a brother, George J. Altheide and his wife, Lillian, of Talbott, Tenn.; a sister, Wilma Thornton and her husband, Don, of rural Ursa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon and Kenneth Altheide; a half-brother, Wilbur Altheide; and three half-sisters, Evalyn Wollbrink, Lucille Butts, and Irene Hudson. SERVICES: 3 p.m. Saturday graveside services will be in the Bethany Cemetery in Tioga. VISITATION: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the activity fund at the Illinois Veterans Home. ARRANGEMENTS: Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon.
