Biography

Daniel was born in 1839, the son of Simeon Althouse and Harriet Merritt.

Daniel Hamilton Althouse was born on November 12, 1839.

He was married first to Catherine Muir.

Together they had the following children:

1. Victoria Jane, 1867–1941, married Hamilton B. Snyder
2. Nelson Althouse, 1872–1916, married Emily Francis
3. Lora Dell, 1881–1944, married 1st. John M. Witters, and 2nd. Christian Schnakenberg

Catherine died on January 27, 1903. Daniel was married again to Maggie Clepper on January 21, 1905.

Daniel H. Althouse died on October 12, 1907 at the age of 67. His obituary can be found on his FindAGrave memorial. It reads:

Mr. Daniel H. Althouse, son of Simeon and Harriett Althouse, was born November 12th 1839 in Wentworth County, Canada. Was married to Cathatine Muir in 1860, who died January 27, 1903 and whose body lies in Bethel Cemetery awaiting the general resurrection. He was again married to Maggie Clepper January 21, 1905. He died October 12, 1907 at 10:42 p.m. aged 67 years 11 months, and was placed by the side of his wife in Bethel Cemetery. Funeral was conducted from Bethel Church by the writer. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters. He was born of the Spirit at 15 years of age and united with the Wesleyan Methodist Church and later transferred to the M.E. Church and remained a member until moving to Waldron, Harper, Kansas to live, and joined the United Brethren Church and remained a faithful member until his Father called him home to enjoy the results of his labors. He labored in the Gospel as a preacher of the Word for about 40 years. Pastor, C.E. Murphy.

He was buried at the Bethel Cemetery, in Amorita, Alfalfa County, Oklahoma.
