death notices for Sumpter Co., AL. It states Died suddenly 11 January 1854 of cramp colic, while on a visit to his son William Altman at Newton, Mississippi, John Altman b.1786 d.1/11/1854NewtonMS of this county. He was 68 years old and was a native of Marion District, South Caroline.

I believe the following is from an email by Pool researcher Audrey E Pool, but my notes are not clear This is what I have on John & Olive. There were 2 John's in Marion. I don't know the parents of either. Diane
