Biography

• Fritz ran a Sugar business in Austria making sugar from beets.

• After the Anschluss, Fritz was arrested and held at Dachau for several months to force his older brother Bernhard Altmann to turn his sweater company over to the Nazis.

• Fritz and Maria later emigrated to the USA (1942) where they eventually settled down in Los Angeles. They had 4 children - 3 sons and 1 daughter.

Note per the US Social Security Death Index record on Family Search incorrectly implies Frederick's birth location was Massachusetts. Rather, Massachusetts is the state in which his Social Security Number was issued. ^[1]
