Biography

Ida Diana Alton was born on June 10, 1860, in Wisconsin, to Joseph Alton and Matilda Barott.[1] In 1870, she was living in Oakdale, Monroe, Wisconsin, with her parents and twobrothers, Burr, and Wilford).[2] By 1875, the family had settled in Martin, Minnesota, along with a boarder, Joseph Anderly.

Ida married Ira Butterfield on 9 Apr 1884 in Martin, Minnesota. [3] In 1895, the household, with their three children (Zola, Alton, and Earl), settled in Martin, Minnesota.[4] In 1900 they were settled with their three children in Manyaska, Martin, Minnesota. Her husband was a farmer. [5]

Ida and Cyra were divorced sometime after that.

Ida then married her former brother-in-law, Myron Butterfield. In 1910 she was living in Elgin, Yamhill, Oregon with Myron and her three children by Ira. [6] Her daughter, Zola, died almost immediately after this census was taken. Ida and Myron divorced before 1914 (when he remarried), and in 1920 she was living with her divorced brother, Burr, on Ohio Street in Mission, San Bernardino, California.[7] By 1930, she had moved in as a lodger with Mary Alton (born 1837, probably a relative) at 1523 Lincoln Boulevard Eighth Street in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, California, where she worked as a practical nurse.[8] By 1940, she was listed on the census as widowed, and was living at 2801 E 8th Street in National City, San Diego, California.[9]

She died on May 17, 1961, in San Diego, California.[10]
