Biography

Mary was born in 1787. She was the daughter of John Alvey and Elizabeth Williams. She passed away in 1821.

When Mary Alvey was born on February 4, 1787, in St Marys City, Maryland, her father, John, was 30, and her mother, Elizabeth, was 27. She married Charles Thompson on November 25, 1809, in Washington, Kentucky. They had three children in 16 years. She died as a young mother on August 3, 1821, in Washington, Kentucky, at the age of 34, and was buried in St Mary, Kentucky.

Mary and Charles had three children during their short marriage and before the death of Mary, all of whom were born in Nelson County. They were

1. Sterling Thompson (b. 28 February 1813, d. 23 July 1952, Indiana),

2. Elizabeth Thompson (b. 7 December 1814, d. 5 July 1860, Indiana, m. O.F. Houghland), and

3. William Thompson (b. 3 April 1817, d. 1903, Kansas, m. 1. Sarah Sumner and m. 2. Anna Elizabeth Haas).
