Boone, I received your letter yesterday and to knight as I have a few leasure moments I will answer. I have been working in the shop a little but don`t expect to follow it much longer. Sudy is well, she has got old Lill to milk and they have battle every once in a while. Willard is in Bullitt Co now. he will stay down there about a month. Steve and George Hamilton is down there with him. Willard has built him a house down there. I don`t suppose it is hardly as fine as the Gault house in Louisville but he says he has built one and he is diggin him a well now he says he thinks from what the people tells him he will have to go about 40 feet before he strikes water. he says he likes that country fine and he would stay there but he is afraid he would starve to death. Milburn went today down to Atherton one of our hogs got lost out there when Willard shipped out hogs and the damages was about three dollars and a half. we have fenced up all around the store and we keep our chickens under there. We have counted up the chickens we have lost this summer and it was very nearly 300 and dont know what went with them but that is surely the worst of it and we can surely do better now. I haven`t saw Lilly for some time, not since I was out to Hodgenville when court was going on. Bell and Mr. Bell was down here the other day with a load of oats they sold to Mr. Cambron. Pa and Ma I don`t see no change. Pa, Ma and Lizzie and Aunt Bells folks, I and Sudie went up to meeting at the Baptist church and you bet we had fun. They have been having church up there for two weeks and all the people around here goes up there every knight. Well, this is all I have to say about religious matters only I expect to get through with my religious exercises next Sunday. Mrs Bowling and that Mr. Boone married today and took a trip to Louisville on the good feelings of that. The United States marshall was out here the other day summoning people. There were several around here that were indicted. I don`t believe Joe Cambron was. Joe has got government licenses now and he says he is going to have a hotel licenses. So he will not be in danger but I would not step into his shoes or socks Pa has hauled up a large pile of wood for winter. I think he has been hauling wood ever since you left. So I guess he has got enough to do him this winter. I saw your colt the other day and it looks well and growing right along. I heard you liked to have some difficulty getting back from Hodgenville. Ben said you was about fixing to pull up your pants and wade the mud Jack Mill and Chap Thompson had a fallenout. I dont know how they come out. Chestnuts is rolling now we are paying twenty cents a gallon and I expect we will have to come down from that. Nights is coming on now for Eucher playing . We haven`t played very many games yet but I and Henry still holds them down. Well, it is getting a little late and I want to read a little.
I remain as ever, your brother, Sam
