Biography
An earlier version of this profile included an unsourced notation:
- She married James O French 2 Apr 1867 in Washington Co MO. Ancestry.com has her name as Syde F.
Using this information, we find her and James in the 1870 census in Breton, Washington, Missouri, with what appears to be a one-year-old son Robinson, and possibly James' mother, Hannah M. French, 65. James and Hannah were born in Massachusetts.[1]
In 1880, the family was enumerated in De Soto, Jefferson Co., Missouri, with a total of three children; James' mother Hannah, 75, is also still living with them. James and Hannah's birth places are enumerated as New Hampshire.[2]
In 1900, the family was enumerated in Valle Twp, De Soto, Jefferson, Missouri.[3]
In 1910, they were enumerated in Ward 1, De Soto, Jefferson, Missouri.[4]
In 1920, they were still in Ward 1, De Soto; living with them was their single daughter Nelly, and their widowed daughter, Mamie Hardy, with her daughter Margaret Hardy.[5]
James would die later that year.
Lyde was still alive in 1930, head of household with her single daughter Nellie and widowed daughter Mayme, still in De Soto, Missouri.[6]
